About TBI

TBI is a major medical condition with approximately 2.6 million people diagnosed in the United States each year. More than 80% of TBIs are concussive injuries and 90% of the 300,000 sports-related TBIs are unreported. Currently, no simple point of care blood test exists for use by physicians in the emergency room or in the hospital to detect the presence and severity of brain trauma. In fact ED visits have spiked by 30% in the last year due to heightened awareness of associated risks of concussions resulting in a multibillion dollar market for the Banyan Biomarkers point of care blood test.
